Species

Finny is a hybrid of a lion (Panthera leo) and a sea otter (Enhydra lutris).

In general, the degree to which Finny is depicted as a lion or an otter is up to the artist's preference. However, there are a few key elements that should remain consistent:

  • the mane of a male lion
  • the tail of an otter (thick at the base, tapered towards the end)
  • a tuft of fur at the end of the tail, like a lion (henceforth referred to as "tail floof")
  • webbed paws

The following elements can be used for guidance if desired, but again, these are not critical and are left to the artist's discretion.

  • slender, lion-like body
  • rounded otter ears
  • large otter nose
  • thinner, lion-like fur

Color

Finny is a very color-driven character. In general, his fur is somewhere between beige and yellow, and his tri-color mane and tail floof are green, blue, and purple.

Typically the colors of the mane and tail floof will be represented in three distinct sections. If Finny will be depicted in monochrome, ideally the three distinct sections of color will still be represented in some way. However, it is understandable that the art style will sometimes not allow for this.

Yellow, blue, green and purple can be a challenging palette to work with [1]. The artist may choose to harmonize these colors as they see fit, as long as the distinct yellow, blue, green, and purple are all represented.

The following swatches are provided for the artist's convenience. Again, it is not necessary to use these exact colors, but these will generally "work."

Body fur (beige/yellow)(#e4c58e)
Mane/Floof 1 (blue)(#354070)
Mane/Floof 2 (purple)(#7e597b)
Mane/Floof 3 (green)(#89a35b)

Footnotes

  1. In color theory, Finny's palette can roughly be described as tetradic colors in the RGB model with a base of yellow.
